Private Sessions

The Stress Response

Stress is kinetic and it's meant to mobilize us from a threat. This was especially useful when we were hunter-gatherers and needed to run from a bear. Now not so much. When our nervous system is dysregulated, our "fight or flight" response becomes overly sensitive, sounding alarms over a work email or someone's tone. What happens when we don’t actually run from the perceived bear? Stress hormones surge and physiological changes take place. When this happens repeatedly or for prolonged periods of time without discharge, it can evolve into things like anxiety, depression, autoimmune diseases, digestive issues, insomnia, inflammation, and chronic pain. To return back to safety and balance, movement is necessary to complete the stress response. 1:1 sessions are the next step to learning how to navigate all of this, tend to the nervous system, and build resilience.

 What to Expect

Sessions built
around you.

These private sessions offer a whole-body, individualized approach, combining yoga postures, movement, breathwork, and meditation - informed by Western science, psychology, neuroscience, and physiology. While group classes are great for community and fitness, these one-on-one sessions provide a deeper, more supportive space to tend to your specific physical and emotional needs. Humans are not a One Size Fits All, and your support shouldn't be either.

1. WE START WITH A CONVERSATION

Your first session begins with listening. Before we begin, you'll complete a comprehensive intake to share your areas of focus, health history, lifestyle, and goals. We'll meet via Zoom to discuss your intentions and create a starting point together.

2. MOVEMENT THAT MEETS YOU WHERE YOU ARE

No prior experience with yoga is needed, no performance, no perfect poses. We move at your pace, exploring what's happening in your body, gently moving through stress responses, and building resilience. Practices evolve as your needs change.

3. TOOLS YOU CAN TAKE WITH YOU

You'll be encouraged to practice with these tools between sessions so they integrate into your daily life. After each session you'll receive simple practices, sequences, or reflections to use on your own. These sessions are designed to equip you with skills you can carry long after our work together.

These sessions are informed by yoga therapy principles and trauma-informed training, and they are not a substitute for medical or mental health care. They can be a wonderful, supportive complement alongside work with your doctors or therapists.
