Our Nervous System
& The Stress Response

​Stress is kinetic and it's meant to mobilize us from a threat. This was especially useful when we were hunter-gatherers and needed to run from a bear. Now not so much. When our nervous system is dysregulated, our fight, flight, or collapse responses becomes overly reactive, sounding alarms over a work email or someone's tone. Stress hormones surge and physiological changes take place. What happens when we don’t actually run from the perceived bear? When this happens repeatedly or for prolonged periods of time without discharge, it can evolve into things like anxiety, depression, autoimmune diseases, digestive issues, insomnia, inflammation, and chronic pain.

 

To return back to safety and balance, movement and breath are also necessary. Learn how to tend to your body and nervous system, and build resilience in 1:1 sessions with me.

Meet Cierra

I'm Cierra, I have been practicing yoga for over 25 years. I'm a Yoga Therapist C-IAYT candidate and Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher. I offer a supportive and educational space in 1:1 sessions and classes, integrating yoga postures, movement, meditation, breath work, and body-based practices that tend to the body and nervous system.

 

I specialize in working with anyone in need of nervous system support, especially women navigating stress and transitional phases in their lives.
